Each player in Pusoy receives exactly 13 cards dealt from a standard 52-card deck. You arrange those 13 cards into three separate hands: a back hand of five cards, a middle hand of five cards, and a front hand of three cards. The back hand must be the strongest, the middle hand second strongest, and the front hand weakest — if you

set them out of order, that is called a foul and you automatically lose the round. Hand strength follows standard poker rankings: straight flush, four of a kind, full house, flush, straight, three of a kind, two pair, one pair, and high card. Special combinations like a Dragon — all 13 cards in sequence — carry their own instant-win rule that overrides

normal scoring.

A foul happens when you set your three hands out of rank order — back weaker than middle, or middle weaker than front. A fouled hand means an automatic loss for that round, regardless of card strength.

What does 'Dragon' mean in Pusoy?

A Dragon is a special combination where all 13 of your cards form one continuous sequence regardless of suit. It is treated as an instant win against all opponents at the table, overriding normal hand comparison.

What is 'scooping' in Pusoy?

Scooping means your back, middle, and front hands all beat the corresponding hands of one opponent. In most scoring versions, scooping a player earns a bonus unit on top of the three individual hand wins.

Pusoy Rules — Answers to What Players Actually Ask

These are the questions that come up most often when players are learning Pusoy or settling a rules debate mid-game. We answer each one based on standard Pusoy rules as applied in our lobby.

Each player receives 13 cards. You then sort those into a five-card back hand, a five-card middle hand, and a three-card front hand before the round is revealed. All four players use the full deck, so 52 cards are dealt total.

Yes — in Pusoy, suits are ranked from highest to lowest as spades, hearts, clubs, then diamonds. Suit rank is used to break ties when two players hold hands of identical rank, such as two players each holding a pair of aces.

In standard Pusoy rules, the three-card front hand does not recognise straights or flushes. Only pairs and high card apply to the front hand. Some regional variants allow a mini straight, but our lobby follows the standard version.

The higher straight flush wins. If both straights are the same rank, suit determines the winner — spades beat hearts, hearts beat clubs, and clubs beat diamonds. Ties at identical rank and suit are treated as a push.
